11am - The joy of raising bilingual children: Advantages, strategies, and challenges (Workshop)
- Presenter: Miriam E. Ebsworth, Associate Professor of English Education, NYU
- Biography: Miriam Eisenstein Ebsworth, PhD, is an Associate Professor of English Education in the Multilingual Multicultural Studies program at NYU Steinhardt. She has extensive experience working with multilingual learners from kindergarten through adulthood and mentoring language teachers and researchers. Her scholarship focuses on bilingual education, second-language acquisition, biliteracy, cross-cultural communication, and the use of technology to support language learning. A longtime leader in the field, she was named Bilingual Teacher of the Year by the New York State Association for Bilingual Education and received several lifetime-achievement honors in 2024. She is co-author, with Sophie Othman, of “The Potential of Chatbots in Bilingual Education: Benefits and Challenges,” published in Bilingual Education in the Age of AI.
- Workshop Description: The joy of raising bilingual children: Advantages, strategies, and challenges workshop is a 45-minute interactive session where Miriam will go over experiences in bilingual education and the advantages and challenges of raising bilingual children.
12 PM - Read in 2 Languages: Empowering Families, Enriching Classrooms (Workshop)
- Presenter: Madison Nguyen, Multilingual Education Specialist, Center for the Advancement of Languages, Education, and Communities (CALEC)
- Biography: Minh Thanh “Madison” Nguyen is a Multicultural Education Specialist at the Center for the Advancement of Languages, Education, and Communities (CALEC). She designs multilingual learning materials that promote biliteracy and cultural inclusion. With a Master’s in International Education from NYU, Madison integrates technology, pedagogy, and global engagement to expand equitable access to language learning.
- Workshop description: The Read in 2 Languages: Empowering Families, Enriching Classrooms workshop is a 45-minute interactive session designed for parents and education professionals to explore the power of bilingual literacy through CALEC’s Ri2L (Read in 2 Languages) platform. This workshop emphasizes the idea that every book can be a bridge between languages, cultures, and generations, fostering biliteracy at home and in school.

2 pm - Study, Lead, Connect: Opportunities with Villa Albertine
· Presenter: Jasmine Deborde, Higher Education Officer
· Biography: Jasmine Deborde has built strong expertise in international cooperation, academic mobility, and cross-cultural project management, supported by her academic background in foreign languages and international relations. She gained valuable experience at École Polytechnique and at the Office franco‑québécois pour la jeunesse (OFQJ), where she contributed to the design and implementation of international exchange initiatives. She joined Villa Albertine in January 2026, and within the Lafayette Fellowship team, she oversees and further develops the program, strengthening its impact and outreach. Based in New York City, she is also in charge of all higher education matters in the tri-state area.
· Workshop description: Learn about academic, leadership, and mobility opportunities connecting students and emerging leaders across the Atlantic. Discover flagship initiatives such as the Lafayette Fellowship, which supports outstanding American students pursuing graduate studies in France, and TAPIF (Teaching Assistant Program in France), which offers participants the opportunity to gain professional experience while fostering cultural and educational exchange between France and the United States.
