Course Objectives
At the completion of this course the participants should be able to:
• Analyze CDC Guidelines vs. OSHA Standards: Contrast the CDC’s infection control guidelines with OSHA’s enforceable standards, focusing on their application in daily dental workflows.
• Develop Office-Specific Programs: Design and maintain a written infection control program featuring an Infection Prevention Coordinator (IPC) role to oversee sterilization, waterline management, and administrative documentation.
• Execute the Bloodborne Pathogen Standard: Mastery of exposure control plans, Hepatitis B vaccination protocols, and the correct selection/disposal of PPE in high-aerosol environments.
• Implement 2026 Hazard Communication (GHS): Update office safety manuals to reflect the latest global harmonization requirements for chemical labeling and SDS management.
• Master the Map: Decode current public health trends and infectious disease outbreaks across Alaska.
• Spot the Signs: Sharpen your diagnostic eye to recognize oral indicators of HIV and STIs to facilitate early intervention and referral.
