The Royal Mint Experience:
The Royal Mint has thrown its doors open to the public with the introduction of a purpose built Visitor Centre at its site in Llantrisant, South Wales, allowing visitors to experience a behind-the-scenes look at life in Britain’s oldest manufacturing organisation, and the world’s leading export mint. The Royal Mint has been minting British coinage for over 1,000 years, and for over 500 of those was based in the Tower of London. The UK’s conversion to decimal coinage prompted the building of a new Royal Mint on its current site in Wales 1967.

The Visitor Centre will offer access to an exciting range of engaging, interactive experiences that will bring to life The Royal Mint’s rich heritage, and display rare and unusual coins and medals from across the world. The guided factory tour will bring visitors into contact with the processes behind the nation’s coinage, and reveal the craftsmanship involved in taking blank pieces of metal from the design stage to being struck as coins.

In the year after UK coins saw the addition of the fifth portrait of The Queen’s reign, visitors are invited to “see the heads, and hear the tales” when they set foot inside The Royal Mint experience. Many will probably never look at their change in the same way again.

Light refreshments are available in an on-site café, and there is a well-stocked gift shop.
St Fagans National History Musuem:
St Fagans is one of Europe's leading open–air museums and Wales's most popular heritage attraction.
The museum stands in the grounds of the magnificent St Fagans Castle and gardens, a late 16th-century manor house donated to the people of Wales by the Earl of Plymouth.
Traditional crafts and activities bring St Fagans alive, in workshops where craftsmen still demonstrate their traditional skills. Their produce is usually on sale. Native breeds of livestock can be seen in the fields and farmyards, and demonstrations of farming tasks take place daily. Visitors gain an insight into the rich heritage and culture of Wales, and the Welsh language can be heard in daily use amongst craftsmen and interpreters.
