About this Event
Go Beyond the Workout. Learn to Row Better.
You can get a great workout on a rowing machine without ever really understanding how to row one.
The Indoor Rowing Master Class: Technique, Power & Performance is a 12-week coached series designed for people who want to go deeper—understanding not just what to do on the rower, but why it works and how to get better at it.
Whether you already row regularly, use the erg as part of another training program, own a Concept2, or simply want to develop your rowing skills, this series takes you beyond following a workout and teaches you how to become a more knowledgeable, efficient and powerful rower.
What Makes This Different?
Each week focuses on one specific rowing concept, combining off-row education, drills, individualized coaching and purposeful time on the erg. You’ll arrive fresh and ready to learn—this isn’t about chasing meters for an hour.
We start by breaking down the mechanics of an efficient stroke, then progressively move into power, stroke rate, watts and output, technique under fatigue, pacing, endurance and race strategy.
By the final weeks, you’ll be putting those skills to work in performance-based sessions and benchmarks.
The 12-Week Progression
Week 1 — Work With the Machine
Understand the flywheel and learn to work with the rower rather than fighting it.
Week 2 — Bracing & the Catch
Develop a strong catch position and learn how stability improves power transfer.
Week 3 — Sequence: Legs First
Master the drive sequence—legs, body, arms—and discover where your power really comes from.
Week 4 — Strong Finish & Handle Path
Clean up the end of your stroke and create a more efficient path into the next one.
Week 5 — Recovery Sequence
Learn how arms, body and knees work together to create a smooth, controlled recovery.
Week 6 — Power Transfer & the Force Curve
See your stroke differently by learning how timing and pressure show up in your force curve.
Week 7 — Stroke Rate Mastery
Learn to change your stroke rate intentionally without simply working harder.
Week 8 — Watts & Output
Understand watts, split, damper and drag factor—and how better mechanics translate into better numbers.
Week 9 — Technique Under Fatigue
Discover what happens to your stroke when you're tired and learn how to recognize and correct breakdowns.
Week 10 — Race Strategy & Execution
Learn how to pace with purpose, create a race plan and put it into action with a 2,000-meter benchmark.
Week 11 — Endurance Efficiency
Use mechanics, breathing and mental strategies to maintain an efficient stroke over longer efforts.
Week 12 — Sprinting
Bring everything together at higher stroke rates and finish the series with a 500-meter benchmark.
This Series Is For You If...
You don't have to be an elite rower—or even consider yourself a “rower.” If you want to understand the machine, improve your technique, generate more power, or see what you're capable of with knowledgeable coaching, you belong here.
The series is especially valuable for indoor rowing enthusiasts, Concept2 owners, CrossFit and functional-fitness athletes, endurance athletes, and anyone who uses the erg as part of their training but has never had the opportunity to really learn the craft of rowing.
