About this Event
Are You Still With Me? delves into the changing and complex role of
dramaturgy within dance, performance, and live arts today. In addition
to the conventional theater environment (black box) these art forms are
increasingly taking place in a museum setting (white cube), public
space, or other contexts. This development raises questions about
contemporary choreographic research: how we choreograph, direct, and
compose, how meaning emerges, and what role narrative structures play in
this. With this conversation between three dramaturgs and three makers, all from various backgrounds, we aim to explore the function and role of
dramaturgy in the current dance and performance landscape. Is dramaturgy
still an inherent part of the creative process? How does dramaturgy
change when the context in which work is created and presented changes?
Speakers: Eylül Fidan Akıncı, Julian Hetzel, Marina Mascarell, Miguel Angel Melgares, Courtney May Robertson, and Hildegard De Vuyst.
