Turn down your indoor voices: the Satellite of Love is locking coordinates on Wauconda for spooky season. This October, we’re pairing crisp autumn nights with world-class trash cinema for Rotten Reels: MST3K Halloween Movie Nights. We’re beaming three of the most legendary, delightfully cursed horror episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000 onto the outdoor big screen in The Backyard.
Joel, Mike, Crow, and Tom Servo have laid down the blueprint, but this is an audience-participation zone! We actively encourage the crowd to riff along, call out the terrible effects, and shout survival tips the characters will definitely ignore.
The 3-Week October Lineup
Wednesday, October 7 | Pod People
"It stinks!" Kick off the series with an alien ripoff masterpiece featuring bizarre synth-pop recording sessions, unhinged poachers, and Trumpy—the snout-nosed extraterrestrial with a terrifying fondness for potatoes.
Wednesday, October 21 | Zombie Nightmare
The ultimate late-80s direct-to-video fever dream. Adam West plays a bewildered police chief, Tia Carrere appears before she was famous, and a baseball-bat-wielding zombie avenges his own death to an unapologetic hair-metal soundtrack.
Wednesday, October 28 | Devil Fish
The grand finale for Halloween week. A geneticist splices a prehistoric monster with an octopus to terrorize southern Florida, leaving a trail of hilarious dubbing, cheesy gore, and iconic Italian exploitation ridiculousness.
