The tournament will follow USA Volleyball (USAV) rules unless otherwise noted below.
General Rules -
*Rally Scoring
*Let Serves are legal
*Must rotate servers
*A net is a net (hair/clothing contact is not a fault)
*Center line rule applies (do not interfere with the opposing team)
*******CLARIFICATION - Center line should be called when it is a) dangerous for the player or opponent b) obstructs the opposing team from safely making a play on the ball or c) is egregious.
*Lifts/Carries will be enforced
*Double contacts will follow current USAV rules - "At the second hit of the team, the ball may contact various parts of the body consecutively, provided that the contacts occur during one action, and the ball is next touched by a teammate."
Officiating -
*Each match will have at least one volunteer referee and two volunteer line judges from teams currently sitting.
*Volunteer referees will focus on clear and obvious faults (net violations, center line interference, lifts/carries, obvious ball handling violations, etc.).
*Line judges are responsible for in/out calls and antenna violations only. Please remember they are volunteers, not paid officials.
*Judgment calls made by officials are final.
*Yelling at any official or judge is a point penalty, NO EXCEPTIONS. Officials have no discretion to remove a point penalty in these circumstances.
*Teams scheduled to officiate are expected to do so. We understand things happen, and teams are welcome to find volunteers to cover their assignment, however repeatedly failing to fulfill officiating duties impacts the entire tournament. Teams that do not provide officials will forfeit their next scheduled set (0-25 during round robin play or 0-1 during playoff matches).
*Teams that leave during the playoffs and fail to meet their officiating duties will be penalized by forfeit of any potential prizes, a deduction of seasonal points, and/or a tournament ban for all players on the team.
*Officiating schedule will be given out at the same time as round robin and after playoffs have been set.
Tournament House Rules and Policies
*Warm-up peppering is not permitted on the sidelines. Please warm up outside the playing area.
*Our schedule is tight. Delays in play may result in a warning followed by a loss of rally if necessary.
*Reasonable delays for injuries are permitted.
*Unsportsmanlike conduct toward players, officials, volunteers, or spectators may result in warnings, point penalties, or removal from the tournament at the Tournament Director's discretion.
*No alcohol, tobacco, or vaping anywhere on the premises.
*Due to the low ceiling, a ball that contacts the ceiling, lights, banners, or the center curtain on your team's side remains playable.
*If the ball contacts the ceiling or overhead objects and crosses the net, the rally is dead.
*Walls and wall-mounted structures (including basketball hoops) are not playable.
