About this Event
🎉 Join Us for a Historic Moment in Seattle!
Something big is happening in the Central District — and we want you there to celebrate it.
Resource Equity Association invites you to the Curry Family Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony, marking the completion of two brand-new housing units at 933 27th Ave, Seattle — an anti-displacement pilot that is proving what’s possible when a community fights to stay.
This is more than a ribbon cutting. The Curry family has been rooted in Seattle’s Central District for generations. Like so many homeowners in this city, they’ve watched their neighborhood change around them — property values rise, neighbors leave, and the community they’ve known their whole lives slowly disappear.
The Curry family chose to stay — and to build.
Through Resource Equity Association’s homeowner development program, Myron Curry became our first homeowner to break ground, beginning a journey to develop two Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) on his property. Funded through the Washington State Department of Commerce Community Reinvestment Program, this project is the first of its kind — a real, tangible example of what anti-displacement looks like in action.
What to expect on November 19th:
- A ribbon-cutting celebration with the Curry family
- Remarks from community partners, advocates, and elected officials
- Light refreshments and community connection
- A chance to meet the team making this work possible
