About this Event
Join the local community in person for the official ribbon-cutting of The Lorge School’s new solar array in New York City.
Celebrating solar energy and student support
For over 60 years, The Lorge School has empowered students with special needs through individualized education and therapeutic support. Its new 37.26 kW solar system is expected to generate 40,525 kWh of clean electricity annually, preventing over 41,500 lbs of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.
As Executive Director Harry Gonzalez explains: “The Lorge School operates on a very tight budget and every dollar saved from conversion to solar energy would go into educational programs for the students.” By reducing electricity costs, the installation will help the school reinvest in:
- Enhanced classroom instruction
- Critical therapeutic services
- Staff development
Come see the panels in action, meet the students and staff whose futures they support, and celebrate what community and clean energy can make possible together.
