About this Event
Rhayne Vermette is the 2026 Filmmaker-in-Residence at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto
Vermette was born in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba, to Jacqueline Deroche and Roger Vermette. Her family history is deeply connected to Manitoba’s Métis and French-Canadian communities. Through her filmmaking, Vermette draws on these histories of place, family and community, transforming personal and collective memory into richly layered cinematic worlds. Her work offers an expansive understanding of how images can construct, disrupt and reimagine relationships to place and time.
