Two musical worlds share one stage. Traditional songs from Indigenous North America — drum, flute, voices, and dance — meet the music of European immigrant communities of the Revolutionary era, sung by vocal quartet with banjo and fiddle. The pieces are paired by theme: battle, mourning, community, refuge. For Utopia’s contribution to Salt Lake’s commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we bring together voices that are rarely heard together.Cliff Eagle Singers • Carl Moore, dance • Nino Reyos, flute • Emily Nelson, soprano • Monica Hymas, alto • Christopher LeCluyse, tenor • Ricky Parkinson, bass • Bronwen Beecher, fiddle • Melissa Chilinski, banjo
