One room. One shared mission. Accessing large-scale private finance is now the critical enabler for retrofit at scale. Grants have helped start the journey – but if we want to go further, faster, and cheaper, we need more sustainable approaches.

Join us for our June Retrofit Society 2.0 quarterly meeting with a focus on Retrofit in Action.

With a renewed focused on finance, this forum is designed to break siloes and make your ambitious projects happen. We’ll explore practical, scalable finance models, demystify risks, and share real-world solutions that unlock retrofit ambitions and deliver healthier, more sustainable homes.

Expect thought-provoking discussion, expert insights, and peer learning, all wrapped into a dynamic, one-day in-person session.

Agenda Retrofit Society 2.0

10:00am - 10:30am: Arrival and Networking

10:30am - 10:45am: Reshaping the Retrofit Narrative to Make Projects Happen

For retrofit to happen at scale, it needs to capture hearts as well as minds. This quarter’s event focuses on how organisations have delivered ambitious projects and their key learnings. Our host, Jenny Danson, will open the day and welcome members.

10:45am - 11:45pm: 9,000-Home Retrofits: How Oxfordshire Country Council Made Retrofit Desirable

Oxfordshire County Council has shown how making retrofit simple drives uptake. Through their Energy Saver App, they have helped over 9,000 households reduce energy use and launched a subscription scheme with a 65% conversion rate. In this session, those behind the project will share what worked, what didn’t, and how social housing providers can build on these insights to drive success.

11:45am - 12:00pm: Break

12:00pm - 1:00pm: Unlocking Energy Freedom for Landlords and Residents

Solar panels, batteries, and virtual power plants create a cleaner, more affordable, and more accessible energy system. In this session, we’ll hear how these technologies de-risk projects, unlock revenue streams, and deliver energy independence.

1:00pm - 1:45pm: Lunch

1:45pm 2.45pm: Keeping Cool in Summer and Warm in Winter

Overheating is now the “new norm”, creating a major challenge for housing providers: how to ensure homes are warm in winter, cool in summer, and affordable year-round. In this presentation, we will examine the technologies, financing approaches, and resident engagement strategies that can deliver climate-ready, comfortable homes.

2:45pm – 3:00pm: Break

3.00pm 4:00pm: 8,000-Home Retrofits a Year: How Thames Freeport is Industrialising Action

Thames Freeport requires £38 billion of retrofit works through to 2050, with an ambition to reach 8,000-home retrofits annually by 2027. Leading the charge are three councils and a consortium of ambitious supply chain partners. We will hear from these project leaders on how they are increasing retrofit rates tenfold.

4:00pm 4:30pm: Turning Ambition into Action

Ambitious retrofits are vital to delivering meaningful environmental, social, and financial outcomes. Led by Jenny, this roundtable explores how to use today’s learnings to gain buy-in for your own initiatives.

4:30pm – 6:30 Drinks & Nibbles
