On Friday, October 30th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater invites all automatonic accolytes to celebrate the penultimate night of our 2026 season with a RETRO-ROBOT RAGER!Featuring ultra-rare 35mm screenings of ROBOT MONSTER (1953 - in 2-D!) and Peter Cushing in DR. WHO AND THE DALEKS* (1965 – in glorious Technicolor!), plus an in-person signing of ROBOT MONSTER COMICS IN 3-D, by its non-robotic and minimally monstrous writers and artists, and a few intergalactically intriguing surprises!
The Mahoning Drive-In Theater is proud to present one “eye” of the only known 35mm print of the infamous 3-D classic ROBOT MONSTER on the giant Mahoning screen, through the cooperation of Bayview Entertainment and The 3-D Film Archive.
We’ll be joined by Bob Furmanek, the man behind ROBOT MONSTER’s recent restoration, founder of The 3-D Film Archive, and publisher of ROBOT MONSTER COMICS IN 3-D, for an introduction to the film that gave the world Ro-Man, a gorilla-bodied, space-helmeted terror who seeks to destroy the last family on a ravaged future Earth, from his Bronson Cave lair (Ro-Man, not Bob).
We follow that tawdry tale of terrestrial terror with a rare side-road in the long history of a British Sci-Fi icon, DR. WHO AND THE DALEKS, one of a pair of stand-alone feature films produced in the 60s by UK genre giants Amicus Films!
Starring Hammer legend Peter Cushing at the titular Doctor, up against his oft-awful nemeses, the Daleks, a robot race with only one directive…”EXTERMINATE!!!” Unrelated to the popular TV series of the day, this first big-screen adventure for The Doctor sees he and his young companions taking the TARDIS to a far-off world, and joining its oppressed occupants in battling the deadly Daleks, who are determined to dominate the universe!
We’ll be joined before the films and at intermission by ROBOT MONSTER IN 3-D contributing writers Harold Buchholz (MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000, Archie Comics, SWEETEST BEASTS) and Paul Castiglia (TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ADVENTURES, Archie Comics, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG), and contributing artist Chris Allan (TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES), who’ll be selling and signing ROBOT MONSTER IN 3-D books and their own artwork, and rumor has it that the star of ROBOT MONSTER, Ro-Man himself, may beam in from his home planet to terrorize patrons (and pose for photos if you ask nicely).
