About this Event
How can architectural research help address the environmental and social challenges facing the built environment?
Join David Storring, Director and Head of Research and Innovation at Morris+Company, to explore the relationship between architectural research, experimentation and practice.
Drawing on four initiatives — Clay | Culture | Carbon, Community Circular Economy Hub, Mini CO₂ and Circular Stone — David will reflect on how research develops through collaboration between architects, academics, industry and communities.
The talk will explore:
- How research questions are developed, tested and refined.
- The relationship between academic research and architectural practice.
- Material innovation, embodied carbon and circular design.
- How interdisciplinary collaboration generates and shares knowledge.
- The challenges of translating research into practical applications.
Rather than focusing solely on outcomes, the session considers research as an open-ended process that can question established design approaches and inform new ways of working.
