It’s one thing to know what you’re supposed to do to survive an attack. It’s another thing to do it when someone is fighting back.A technique can look great when your training partner gives you the attack you’re expecting and lets you perform it.
But a real attacker isn’t going to cooperate.
They’re going to pull away. Push forward. Fight for control. Move unexpectedly. Resist what you’re trying to do.
That’s why resistance matters in self-defense training.
In Kalah, we first give you the opportunity to understand the principles and practice them. Then, as you progress, we begin adding resistance and pressure.
The purpose isn’t to overwhelm you.
It’s to give you experience trying to think, move, maintain control, and execute what you’ve learned while another person is actually resisting.
Because the first time you experience that kind of resistance shouldn’t be when your safety depends on it.
On Saturday, October 10, we’re holding a 4-hour Reality-Based Self-Defense Workshop in Grand Rapids where you’ll have time to learn, practice, get coached, and experience progressively increasing resistance.
