Join Brian Pearce for a fascinating talk about a much loved local attraction and the 45 year volunteering journey which made it possible.About this Event
The ‘Railworld Wildlife Haven’ started when Rev Richard Paten bought the derelict power station coal yard and set up a registered charity. Volunteers with the help of many companies, groups and individuals have transformed the derelict coal yard into a museum of rail, as well as a landscaped haven creating increased biodiversity and habitat for wildlife.
It won Sustainable Project of the Year at the Museums and Heritage Awards, beating competition including from the likes of the Natural History Museum.
