Rahel Talts Quartet will be joined by an incredible guitarist Rob Luft with whom they've played concerts in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and recorded their first album together which will be out already the 28th of November! You will hear music from the fresh album as well as some older and newer music from Rob and Rahel, too. Prepare for burning solos, energetic rhythms and beautiful, atmospheric melodies!
Rob Luft is an award-winning jazz guitarist from London whose virtuosity has been compared to that of six-string legends John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola & Paco De Lucia. He was the recipient of the 2016 Kenny Wheeler Prize from the Royal Academy of Music, and he also received the 2nd Prize in the 2016 Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition at Montreux Jazz Festival. His debut album, “Riser”, was released on Edition Records in 2017 to widespread acclaim from the European jazz media. In May 2019, Rob was selected as a BBC New Generation Jazz Artist. He made his debut appearance on the legendary German jazz label ECM Records with the album “Lost Ships, a collaborative effort with Swiss-Albanian singer Elina Duni, and this was nominated in the ‘International Album of the Year’ category in the 2021 German Jazz Prize.
Luft’s latest album “Dahab Days” was released last year.
Rahel Talts is a young emerging Estonian jazz pianist and composer, who in recent years has been musically very active in Denmark, Lithuania and Estonia as well as many other countries around Europe. Rahel has taken part in numerous prestige projects all over Europe. In 2021, she was selected to be one of the 15 young jazz musicians in Elbphilharomine Jazz Academy project in Hamburg, which concluded with 2 sold out shows at the legendary Elbphilharomine concert hall. In 2023, Talts was chosen to represent Estonia in the legendary Euroradio Jazz Orchestra. In 2023, Rahel was also one of the finalists in the Helsinki Big Band Composing Contest. Talts has her own international 14-member band called Rahel Talts Ensemble with whom they released their first album in February 2022 called "Power of Thought" and recorded a new one this summer. Another combo that she leads is her quartet with whom they have toured over Europe and Asia and released a very well received album "Greener Grass" in May 2023.
Rahel Talts Quartet is a group that plays Estonian pianist and composer Rahel's original music. The band's music could mainly be described as energetic, acoustic, melodic jazz which has some influences from Baltic and Nordic folkish melodies as well as from old traditional jazz and bebop, which makes the music unique and special. In short, it is a happy, melodic jazz with fun twists.
In May 2023, Rahel Talts Quartet released their first album called "Greener Grass", which was very well received, and they’re starting to record a new album this November! The quartet have played tours and concerts in France, Germany, Denmark, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and more. Latest tour was to Southeast Asia, which was very successful.
