Ragione & Sentimento è un workshop che ha lo scopo di guidare i partecipanti in un affascinante viaggio tra il rigore geometrico delle forme e la calda naturalezza della scrittura manuale, mostrando come anche caratteri apparentemente semplici possano rivelare sfumature emotive sorprendenti.
Da sempre l’arte del disegno delle lettere si muove a metà tra una dimensione razionale e geometrica, ed una più espressiva, legata alla gestualità calligrafica.
Esaminando alcuni classici del disegno sans serif – dal Futura di Paul Renner al Gill Sans di Eric Gill – il workshop permetterà di imparare a distinguere tra sans geometrici e sans umanisti. Una distinzione sottile ma indispensabile per utilizzare in modo consapevole i caratteri tipografici, in modo da influenzare non solo l’aspetto estetico, ma anche la percezione emotiva di un testo.

The art of letterform design has always moved between a rational, geometric dimension and a more expressive one, rooted in the gestures of calligraphy.
By examining some of the classics of sans serif type design — from Paul Renner’s Futura to Eric Gill’s Gill Sans — the workshop will explore the distinction between geometric and humanist sans serifs. A subtle yet essential distinction for using typefaces consciously, influencing not only the visual appearance of a text but also its emotional perception.
