(NL) Huisartiest Radouan Mriziga vervolgt zijn onderzoek naar landschappen als bronnen van beweging en betekenis. Na bergen en woestijnen vormt Atlantis / the Sea de culminatie van deze trilogie, waarin de zee centraal staat als een ongrijpbaar en dynamisch systeem van stromingen, ritmes en krachten.
Deze nieuwe creatie gaat in première in DE SINGEL en wordt ontwikkeld op de schaal van de grote zaal, waar Mriziga zijn choreografisch onderzoek verdiept in een ruimtelijke en muzikale compositie.
De zee is van oudsher een zone van verbinding. Via haar wateren verplaatsen mensen, goederen en ideeën zich, en raken culturen met elkaar verweven. Tegelijk blijft ze onvoorspelbaar en ondoorgrondelijk - een plek die zowel aantrekt als ontregelt. Met de Middellandse Zee als historisch kruispunt en Andalusische muziek als kloppend hart, brengt Mriziga zes dansers en drie muzikanten samen in een gelaagd samenspel van beweging en klank.
Atlantis / the Sea benadert de zee als een levende kennisdrager - niet om te beheersen, maar om naar te luisteren.
(EN) In-house artist Radouan Mriziga continues his exploration of landscapes as sources of movement and meaning. Following mountains and deserts, Atlantis / the Sea serves as the culmination of this trilogy, in which the sea takes centre stage as an elusive and dynamic system of currents, rhythms, and forces.
This new creation will premiere at DE SINGEL and has been developed for performing in large auditoria, where Mriziga deepens his choreographic research within a spatial and musical composition.
The sea has long been a zone of connection. Across its waters, people, goods, and ideas travel, and cultures intertwine. At the same time, it remains unpredictable and unfathomable - a place that both attracts and unsettles. With the Mediterranean as a historical crossroads, and Andalusian music as its beating heart, Mriziga brings together six dancers and three musicians in a layered interplay of movement and sound.
Atlantis / the Sea approaches the sea as a living repository of knowledge - not to dominate, but to listen to.
