About this Event
What would you put in an exhibition if you didn't have to show a finished, flawless work?
The sketch you nearly binned. The voice note where an idea first clicked. The references you keep returning to. The experiment that went spectacularly wrong. The strange obsession that keeps finding its way into everything you make.
Show You Mine is a Queer Salon MCR workshop exploring what happens when we put artistic process on display, rather than just the finished end result.
Next year, Queer Salon MCR will launch Queering Process, an artist development programme exploring the messy, invisible processes behind creative work - how ideas emerge, what happens when we embrace risk and challenge ideas of failure, and how unfinished thinking can be shared.
The programme will culminate in a group interdisciplinary exhibition at the HOME MCR Arches during Manchester Pride Weekend 2027, exploring what happens when we put process - not product - on display.
This is our last Salon of the year, and it’s an opportunity to start imagining what our exhibition look like if it showed, not just what we have completed, but how we think, experiment, get lost, change direction and find our way.
What would you choose to share?
This session is for getting curious, exchanging ideas with artists working in other disciplines, and exploring these possibilities together.
You don't need a finished piece of work, a fully formed idea or a plan for what you want to exhibit.
Come and show us what you're working with.
Queer Salon MCR creates spaces for LGBTQIA+ creatives to connect, share knowledge, experiment and learn from one another beyond the pressure to produce, compete or prove themselves. Our sessions are built around conversation, collective exploration and connection.
All artforms and stages of creative practice welcome.
