Nico, Deutsch-Perserin, emanzipiert und fröhlich, ist als Altenpflegerin die Beliebteste bei ihren Patient*innen. Mit ihrer besten Freundin Rosa, genießt sie unbeschwert den Berliner Sommer.
Ein rassistischer Überfall reißt die selbstbewusste Nico aus ihrem selbstbestimmten Alltag. Im Krankenhaus erwacht, wird ihr bewusst, dass sie offenbar doch nicht so selbstverständlich dazu gehört. Geplagt von Erinnerungsfetzen an den Überfall, isoliert sich Nico mehr und mehr. Nicht nur Rosa verliert jeden Bezug zu ihr, auch ihre Patient*innen erkennen die – einst so fröhliche Frau – nicht wieder. Nico weiß, dass es so nicht weiter gehen kann und trifft eine Entscheidung: Sie holt sich Hilfe bei Andy – dem lauten Karate Weltmeister. Nico lässt sich auf seine militärische Art zu motivieren ein, gewinnt dadurch sogar wieder Selbstvertrauen.
Weil sie sich wieder unter Leute mischt, begegnet Nico auf einem Rummel der Mazedonierin Ronny. Ronny erkennt Nico sofort. Woher und warum, wird Nico im Verlauf des Films verstehen und sich auf dem Weg der Frage stellen müssen, wie sie mit der Wut und Hilflosigkeit umgeht, die der Überfall in ihr ausgelöst haben.

Nico, a German-Persian woman, emancipated and cheerful, is the most popular geriatric nurse among her patients. With her best friend Rosa, she enjoys the Berlin summer without a care in the world.
A racist attack tears the self-confident Nico from her self-determined everyday life. When she wakes up in the hospital, she realizes that she doesn't belong so naturally after all. Plagued by fragments of memories of the attack, Nico isolates herself more and more. Not only Rosa loses any connection to her, but also her patients do not recognize the once so cheerful woman. Nico knows that things can't go on like this and makes a decision: she gets help from Andy - the loud karate world champion. Nico gets involved in his military way of motivating and even gains self-confidence again.
Because she mingles with people again, Nico meets Ronny, a Macedonian, at a carnival. Ronny recognizes Nico immediately. From where and why, Nico will understand in the course of the film and on the way will have to face the question of how to deal with the anger and helplessness that the assault has triggered in her.
