About this Event
Join us at the Germantown Jewish Center on Wednesday, January 27 for a special screening of Episode 7: Renewal from In Pursuit: Philadelphia and the Making of America, a groundbreaking 10-part documentary series produced by History Making Productions.
Presented in partnership with the Chestnut Hill Local, this screening invites audiences to explore the complicated origins of Philadelphia and the ideals of religious freedom, coexistence, and equality that helped shape the American experiment.
------
Episode 7 follows Philadelphia through the Great Depression, World War II, and the sweeping urban renewal efforts that reshaped the city in the decades that followed. Through stories of political change, racial inequality, housing, redevelopment, and figures including Albert M. Greenfield and Edmund Bacon, Renewal asks audiences to consider who benefits from progress—and what can be lost when a city remakes itself.
Following the screening, guests will be invited to stay for a conversation exploring the episode’s themes and their continued relevance to Philadelphia today.
