Join us for a relaxed and creative workshop inspired by the beauty and abundance of the autumn season. Set within the stunning surroundings of the Gibside estate, you'll create a beautiful floral arrangement using one of autumn's most iconic symbols—a fresh pumpkin.
Working with a gorgeous selection of seasonal flowers in rich shades of orange, deep red and warm autumn tones, you'll learn how to create a natural, abundant arrangement using a sustainable chicken wire and water technique. This environmentally friendly method provides excellent support for your flowers while allowing them to remain beautifully fresh.
Don't worry if you've never arranged flowers before—I'll guide you through each stage of the process, making this workshop perfect for beginners as well as those with previous floristry experience. Together, we'll explore how to combine colour, texture and movement to create a design that celebrates the richness of the season.
As the trees around the gardens begin to turn and the estate embraces its autumn colours, you'll have plenty of inspiration all around you. It's the perfect opportunity to slow down, enjoy a few mindful hours immersed in creativity, and connect with the changing season through flowers.
Your finished pumpkin arrangement will make a stunning centrepiece for your autumn table, or a beautiful decoration to welcome Halloween into your home. Our workshops at The Northern Flower Garden are always fun and supportive where I demonstrate professional floristry techniques, share the tips and tricks and we’ll keep the creativity flowing with crafted drinks and homemade bakes from the National Trust team at Crook Hall Gardens.

On arrival, please show proof of your workshop booking at the welcome buildings to gain free admission.
Can National Trust members please also have your membership card scanned as usual.

To help protect and conserve Crook Hall’s Gardens, all plant material that enters and leaves the site is bagged and sealed. Therefore we will ask you to also seal your designs in the bags we will provide as you leave.
