New Way:
New Way is one of the three performance styles in Ballroom, also known as voguing. Voguing itself was born from dancers imitating fashion magazine poses (especially Vogue magazine), Egyptian hieroglyphs, mime and performance techniques, and dance subculture movements like breakdance, popping, or martial arts. While voguing began with the performance category called Old Way—focused on symmetry, lines, and classic poses—New Way emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s as dancers pushed the physical and technical boundaries of the style. The introduction of faster House and Techno Tracks, as well as Performers showcasing greater flexibility, contortions, and acrobatic elements, marks the birth of the category New Way. New Way is influenced by the overall attitude of Haute Couture and emphasizes precise angles and complex illusions created through body, arm, and hand poses.
