About this Event
Provençe …
Even the word itself sounds like a sigh, an exhalation. Your mind drifts to summer breezes, the fragrance of lavender in the air, warm beams of sunshine, sunflowers, olive trees, endless beaches and rosé.
It’s the oldest wine region in France, and somehow still the most underrated. Winemakers have been at it here for over 2,600 years - not because it's tradition, but because the place makes it almost impossible not to. Provence gets nearly 3,000 hours of sun a year and that kind of light does something to a landscape - lavender, olive trees, sunflowers - and it does something remarkable to wine too.
About the winemaker
We'll be joined by Noémie from Domaine Saint-Pancrace, an estate whose origin story begins in 1890 when a blacksmith named Louis Pugibet married a winemaker who gave him his first hectare of vines as a wedding present. His grandson took over in 1966, got rid of the horses, dropped herbicides and insecticides, and started planting grape varieties that confused the neighbours. The estate sits at the foot of a mountain, where the rocky, sun-drenched landscape has been doing something remarkable to grapes for well over a century. And you’ll get to taste those wines with Noémie herself.
