Yatiri Bio will host its second Proteomics Day of the year, featuring Michael MacCoss, Ph.D., a Professor of Genome Sciences at the University of Washington, renowned for his expertise in quantitative mass spectrometry and proteomics. His research aims to improve protein measurement methods through innovative technologies, computational tools, and analytical techniques, with a focus on accuracy, reproducibility, and scalability. His lab has made notable advances in targeted proteomics, data-independent acquisition (DIA), sample preparation, and mass spectrometry instrumentation. The lab developed Skyline, an open-source platform for quantitative mass spectrometry, and Panorama, a web-based platform for sharing and analyzing mass spectrometry data. The lab has also contributed to key computational tools such as Percolator and Comet. His interdisciplinary work integrates biochemistry, engineering, computer science, and statistics to advance quantitative proteomics and its applications to the study of aging, cancer, cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, and neurodegenerative diseases. His achievements include the Biemann Medal, the HUPO Award for Discovery in Proteomics Sciences, and the 2026 Donald F. Hunt Distinguished Contribution in Proteomics Award from US HUPO.
Dr. MacCoss will present: “Use of Mass Spectrometry-Based Proteomics to Study Neurodegeneration”. Refreshments and discussion will follow the talk, sponsored by Thermo Fisher, Bruker, Seer, and Illumina.
