Understand the PRIS Act in practice, assess AI and data risks, and build a practical readiness checklist for your next project.
About this Event

Understand what the PRIS Act means for AI, data sharing, privacy, and automated decision-making in Western Australia.

New privacy and information-sharing requirements can affect how organisations design, assess, and govern AI and data projects. This practical masterclass helps WA leaders understand the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act (PRIS Act) and consider what it means for real AI and data initiatives.

Using practical case scenarios covering biometric information, Privacy Impact Assessments, and automated decision-making, you will work through key obligations, identify potential risks, and build a practical readiness checklist for an AI or data project.

Who this is for

This session is designed for:

  • WA public-sector leaders and policy professionals
  • Local government officers and technology leaders
  • NFP executives and programme leads
  • AI and data project managers
  • Risk, privacy, compliance, and governance professionals
  • Leaders responsible for AI or data initiatives

No advanced technical background is required.

What we will do together
  • Understand the PRIS Act in practice: Explore the privacy and information-sharing considerations that may affect AI and data projects in WA.
  • Examine automated decision-making: Consider where automated or AI-supported decisions may create privacy, bias, fairness, and accountability risks.
  • Work through practical cases: Use scenarios involving biometric information, PIAs, and automated decision-making to apply the concepts to realistic project situations.
  • Identify governance requirements: Consider what should be documented, reviewed, monitored, and escalated when AI or data is involved.
  • Build your PRIS readiness checklist: Apply the learning to one AI or data project and create a practical checklist for your next steps.

What you will take home
  • A practical PRIS Readiness Checklist
  • An AI and Data Governance Review
  • Practical considerations for automated decision-making
  • A clear set of next steps for your AI or data project

Good to know

Please bring your laptop for the practical activities and, where possible, a general AI or data project to use as a reference. Do not bring confidential, personal, or sensitive information. No previous PRIS Act or AI experience is required. This is a practical professional development masterclass and does not constitute legal advice, compliance certification, or a formal legal assessment of your organisation.

Refund, Cancellation and Transfer Policy

1) Your legal rights: Our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. Nothing in this policy limits them. This policy applies to tickets for this event only.

2) If we cancel or materially change the event: If we cancel this event, or change its date, content, format or delivery mode so materially that it no longer meets your reasonable needs, you can choose either:

(a) a full refund of the total you paid, including Eventbrite fees, to your original payment method; or

(b) a transfer to a later event of your choice.

We do not deduct any fee from these refunds. Minor changes, such as a substitute presenter, a running-order change, or a different room at the same venue, do not entitle you to a refund under this clause. If you think a change is material, email and we will decide within 5 business days. We will give reasons if we decline, and your legal rights are unaffected.

3) If you cannot attend: Tickets are non-refundable for change of mind. If you tell us at least 14 days before the event, you may move your ticket once to another session, subject to availability. It has no cash value.

4) Transferring your ticket to another person: You may transfer your ticket to another person up to 7 days before the event, by emailing with the new attendee’s name and email, or via Eventbrite’s transfer tool where enabled. Tickets must not be resold for more than you paid. We set this cut-off because we confirm final attendee numbers with the venue and caterer, and prepare name badges and course materials, 7 days before each event.

5) No-show or leaving early: No refund or credit is available if you do not attend or leave part-way through, except as required by law.

6) Refund requests: Email with your name, order number and the clause you rely on. We acknowledge requests within 5 business days and decide them within 10 business days. Approved refunds go to the original payment method and normally appear within 5 to 10 business days.

7) Conduct: We may refuse entry or remove an attendee who endangers others or seriously disrupts the event. No refund is due for that. This does not limit your legal rights.

8) Tickets sold through Eventbrite: Eventbrite processes tickets. Its refund tools and terms apply in addition to this policy, and we will honour the rights set out here. For advisory, training or consulting under a separate written agreement, that agreement’s terms apply together with clauses 1 and 2.

(Free events: use the same text, but remove “including Eventbrite fees” from clause 2, and remove the session-transfer sentence from clause 3 if tickets cannot be moved)
