The Polish Museum of America (PMA) is pleased to welcome historian and author Anna D. Jaroszyńska-Kirchmann for a special presentation of her new book, Pierogi: An American Story of Polish Food!
Food may begin with the simple necessity of nourishing the body, but it is rarely only about what we eat. Food carries memory. It reflects family and community, migration and adaptation, social relationships as well as economic circumstances. Few foods illustrate this as vividly in the Polish-American experience as the humble pierogi. In her book, Jaroszyńska-Kirchamnn traces their journey from immigrant kitchens to their place in American food culture, exploring how traditions are preserved, adapted, and transformed across generations.
We warmly invite you to join us at the Polish Museum of America for an evening of history, food, memory, and conversation – and to discover just how much of a story can be contained in a plate of pierogi!
Anna D. Jaroszyńska-Kirchmann is Distinguished Professor of History and CSU Professor Emerita at Eastern Connecticut State University, editor in chief of Polish American Studies, and a past president of the Polish American Historical Association.
