Learn what it takes to write, direct and perform 100 SHOWS A YEAR as a small group of artists who also RUN THE BUSINESS together. It’s not a sitcom, it’s The San Francisco Neo-Futurists. They put on the Infinite Wrench, the show the SF Chronicle calls one of "22 San Francisco things everyone must do!"They’ll pull back the curtain on how they operate as a non-hierarchical consensus-based collective to organize performance space, run committees, budget and raise funds and ultimately put on a show every week. They’ll also cover their process for writing new material for a new cast of performers to put on a different show every Friday and Saturday night.
The SF Neos are a collective of wildly prolific artists dedicated to the perpetual creation of experimental theatre that is immediate, ephemeral, accessible and cheap. They believe the stage is an extension of daily life: they perform as themselves in a non-illusory, interactive style that challenges the audience to create alongside them as active participants with a voice of their own. They respect and uplift each other on and off stage through non-hierarchical accountability, collective decision-making and anti-oppression practice of all kinds.
The event takes place in the Steve Silver Music Center located on the 4F of the Main Library.
