About this Event
Free, hands-on community event in the South Bronx: explore how home energy works, get help with utility bills, and share your story.
Overview:
Get ready to charge up your energy knowledge and share your story!
Power Uptown is a free, hands-on event about the energy in our homes — what it costs us, how it affects our health, and what we can do about it. Join Columbia University’s Energy Equity, Housing and Health Program (@hotandcold_nyc), the Association for Energy Affordability, and South Bronx Unite for an evening of learning and community.
What to expect:
- Walk through hot, cold, and blackout rooms to feel what many New Yorkers live with every day
- See an old boiler side by side with a working energy lab
- Get on-site help with your utility bills
- Share your energy story at our storytelling booth
- Take home an energy kit and enter our book raffle for Powerless by Bronx-based author Dr. Diana Hernández
Come for an hour or stay all evening — everyone is welcome.
