About this Event
Elisheva Goldberg is an American ceramicist based in London. She received her MA in Ceramics from the Royal College of Art in 2024 and was most recently the Hauser & Wirth artist-in-residence for Winter 2025.
Her practice spans both tableware and sculptural vessels, balancing functionality with a painterly sensibility inspired by gardens and cut flowers. Her new series of tulipières was developed following her winter in the British countryside, combining the historic form popularised during the 16th-century Dutch tulip craze with pan-European folk painting traditions. Each spout of the tiered vessels is designed to hold a single stem, allowing the pieces to bloom gradually from top to bottom.
Starting with a live painting demo, the students will learn how to approach their ceramic pieces like a canvas. Elisheva will guide them through her process including mixing colors, brush techniques, and pattern-making, opening the door to another approach to ceramic surface design. The painting demo will take place from 2-2:30 pm, after which the attendees will start decorating their own pieces with Elisheva's guidance.
Each participant will decorate two pieces which will be glazed and fired at the studio to be collected within 2-4 weeks.
