Join us for a special San Diego Climate Week screening of The True Cost - paired with a hands-on upcycling workshop designed to put circular fashion into action while we watch. The True Cost is the groundbreaking documentary that pulls back the curtain on the fashion industry and explores its impact on people and the planet. The film was a major inspiration behind Positive Phee and the evolution of Sip & Style, creating community-driven, joyful alternatives to buying new.
This year, we’re taking the screening one step further. Before the film begins, ReMade with Rose will lead us in a hands-on patch-making workshop, giving new life to clothing that might otherwise be discarded because of a stain, tear, hole, or other imperfection.
Guests can then continue working on their upcycling projects while watching the film, followed by an open conversation about what we’ve seen, what we can do differently, and how individual action becomes stronger through community.
Bring Something to Upcycle!
We invite you to look through your wardrobe and bring one 100% cotton item that could use a little love - think jeans, a denim jacket, tote bag, sweatshirt/sweater, or another suitable cotton piece.
Maybe it has a stain you can’t remove, a small tear, a hole, or you simply don’t reach for it anymore. Instead of giving up on it, we’ll create decorative patches to transform the imperfection and give your piece another life.
We’ll begin the project together before the screening, and you’re welcome to continue stitching and creating while you watch.
No sewing experience necessary! This is about experimenting, learning, and seeing the possibilities in what we already own.
