About this Event
Our second evening celebrates the work and legacy of Portsmouth filmmaker Michael J. Murphy with a special screening of his final feature film, The Return of Alan Strange (2015).
A mystery with a touch of showbusiness intrigue, the film follows Peter Hennessey, a down-at-heel actor who once starred in a 1960s time-travelling detective series. With plans for a big-screen revival of the show, Peter receives an unexpected invitation to a New Year's Eve gathering that brings old rivalries, memories and secrets to the surface.
Starring Patrick Olliver, Phil Lyndon and Judith Holding, and written and directed by Michael J. Murphy, the film offers a fitting opportunity to revisit the work of one of Portsmouth's most distinctive independent filmmakers.
Join us for an evening celebrating Michael's contribution to British independent cinema and keeping his filmmaking legacy alive.
