About this Event
Working together - at scale - to prevent falls: the path to policy success
Join us for the much-anticipated launch of the National Falls Prevention Alliance Policy Platform, and play an important role in putting falls prevention on the national agenda.
Our respected, non-partisan panel will take part in an informal, moderated discussion, sharing their experience of where concerned communities have shifted the political dial, examples of their successes in policy reform, some of the key ingredients, and what those concerned about falls prevention can learn.
When: Monday 9th November 5pm – 7pm
Where: The launch will be a hybrid event, with the key event taking place in Sydney, alongside satellite locations around Australia such as Melbourne and Perth (further locations to be confirmed) and an online option for members who are unable to attend in person.
- Sydney: Institute for Musculoskeletal Health, 77 Paramatta Road, Camperdown
- Melbourne: Melbourne Academic Centre for Health, 21 Bedford st, North Melbourne
- Perth location: Injury Matters WA, Level 2, 297 Vincent Street, Leederville
What to expect: Hear from experienced voices in policy reform. Gain inspiration in how the Alliance can meaningfully build momentum. Learn how you can play an important role in putting falls prevention on the national agenda.
Why this matters: Falls are common, costly and preventable, yet Australia has no national plan. Approximately 6000 Australians die each year as a result of a fall. And while serious falls can happen at any age, 400 older Australians are hospitalised as a result of a fall - every day. The annual cost? $5.4 billion.
Why you need to attend: By working together we can demonstrate how much support there is for national action on falls prevention; and together achieve much more.
Who should come?
- Members of Parliament and Political Leaders
- Subject matter experts including researchers, clinicians and health professionals
- Endorsing organisations across all sectors; current and future Alliance members
