Polaroid Portraits with Ray Liu

Step into the world of instant film with Ray Liu in this fun and creative workshop, where you’ll explore the magic of Polaroid portraiture in a studio setting. From classic portraits to double exposures and in-camera effects, you’ll learn how to push the creative boundaries of instant photography.

Ray has been a passionate Polaroid shooter for over a decade, with his work featured in numerous Polaroid books and publications. His images have also appeared in Polaroid’s own marketing campaigns and retail packaging.

What to Expect

Throughout the workshop, you’ll experiment with different Polaroid techniques using a variety of cameras and tools. You’ll have the chance to create unique, one-of-a-kind instant film portraits while learning from Ray’s expertise.

Equipment & What to Bring
We’ll provide:

• A Polaroid I-2, Polaroid’s most advanced manual camera

• A Polaroid Now+ for creative shooting

• A Polaroid Lab for artistic Polaroid manipulation

Each participant will receive one pack of Polaroid I-Type film (8 shots) as part of the workshop fee.

Optional: If you own a Polaroid camera, feel free to bring it along, along with any extra film you’d like to use. Additional Polaroid I-Type 600 film will also be available for purchase at £15.99 per pack.

Workshop Schedule

• 15 mins – Introduction to the workshop

• 70 mins – Shooting with the Polaroid I-2 in a studio setting (includes a 10-minute demo by Ray)

• 70 mins – Exploring double exposures (includes a 10-minute demo by Ray)

• 70 mins – Getting creative with filters and artistic techniques (includes a 10-minute demo by Ray)

• 15 mins – Showcasing the “shot of the day” and wrap-up

Additional Information

• Please install the Polaroid app on your smartphone before the workshop. This will allow you to control the Now+ camera and print from the Polaroid Lab.

• Each participant will have dedicated shooting time with the model.
