About this Event
Join us for an exciting Yo! Comics workshop where kids will create their own Yonkoma (4-panel) comic story! Led by experienced manga creators mayamada, this 45-minute session will focus on storytelling through the popular Japanese 4-panel comic format. You'll learn how to plan and create a complete single-page story using the Yonkoma style. Whether you prefer drawing or writing, you'll get to develop your own characters and tell your story in just four panels! Perfect for young creators who want to try making their first comic - no previous experience required!
Nigel Twumasi is co-founder of mayamada, a manga brand that uses storytelling to inspire creativity in others. Through their original manga universe, engaging comic workshops and youth programmes across the UK, his team supports creativity in young people and the industries that impact them. He serves on the London Mayor's Cultural Leadership Board, Children's Media Conference Advisory Committee, and Young BAFTA Advisory Group, championing diversity in creative industries. Through creative workshops and the "Do I Look Like A Gamer?" campaign, his team works to empower young people to tell their own stories and challenge industry stereotypes. The mayamada Showrunners Work Experience programme provides hands-on opportunities for aspiring creative professionals to gain real experience in creative industries.
The workshop will last for approx. 45 minutes, from 4-4:45pm.
This event is for children aged 7-14 years old. Children can be left at the workshop, but carers must stay in the building during the workshop.
