Pokey LaFarge, born Andrew Heissler in Bloomington, Illinois, is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, poet, and actor celebrated for his distinctive blend of vintage American roots music. Drawing on blues, country, folk, ragtime, jazz, Western swing, and Latin rhythms, he creates a sound that bridges musical eras while maintaining a contemporary spirit. Influenced by early blues pioneers including Skip James and Sleepy John Estes, LaFarge began traveling and performing across the country after high school. His profile grew with support from Jack White, who released his music through Third Man Records and featured him on tour. His albums include Rock Bottom Rhapsody, In the Blossom of Their Shade, Rhumba Country, and Rent Money. LaFarge has also appeared in The Lone Ranger, Sun Records, and The Devil All the Time.Photo by Danielle Head
