Annie Powell (1859-1952) was born in West Yorkshire, England, and emigrated to Lowell in 1892. She took thousands of beautiful photos of her adopted city but the most intriguing ones show spectral people and visions of heaven on earth. She was deeply religious and these seem to be her response to tragic deaths of family, friends, and community members from illness, accident, suicide, and murder. Speaker Bernie Zelitch is the founder and director of the nonprofit organization, by Annie Powell.
