From plot to plate, this unique book club brings stories to life through hands-on cooking and shared meals inspired by the stories we love.Plot to Plate Book Club is where literary discussion meets culinary exploration. Participants come ready to enjoy the flavors and themes of a featured book—first through hands-on cooking, then around the table with a shared meal and lively conversation. This experience invites you to taste the story, connect with others, and discover how food can play a starring role in storytelling, culture, and community. Whether you're a passionate reader, a curious cook, or both, this immersive evening promises inspiration, creativity, and connection in every chapter—and every bite.
At The Kitchen House, we build community around sustainable, whole foods by enjoying a communal meal we all cooked together.
On this month’s menu is Heartburn by Nora Ephron, a wickedly funny and only-slightly-fictionalized account of a marriage falling apart between bites of pot roast and key lime pie. Join us as we explore Rachel's approach to cooking her way through heartbreak, betrayal, and the particular kind of resilience that comes from refusing to stop eating well. Participants will prepare dishes inspired by Rachel's recipes, then enjoy book club discussion around the table. Please be sure to read the novel before coming to class to fully savor the story.
