Register now for SSP's ACT I: Play Writing Workshop conducted by acclaimed television, stage, and film writer, director, actor, and playwright Del Shores on Saturday, October 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Rapides Foundation Building in downtown Alexandria. Del Shores debuted with his first play, Cheatin' (1984), and later rose to prominence for his play Sordid Lives (1996) and its 2000 film adaptation. He has achieved worldwide success with films Daddy’s Dyin’ (Whose Got the Will), Sordid Lives, and Southern Baptist Sissies, plus subsequent works. His work often explores themes of LGBTQ+ identity, and his comic depictions of Southern culture and dysfunctional family dynamics, blending humor with drama, have captivated audiences for decades.
