Learn about plants and printmaking along the Grand Union Canal (families)
Join us for a fun and engaging morning learning about the plants that grow along London’s canals. We will spend some time exploring the canalside, where you and your family can have a go at identifying plants with the help of a hand out and guidance from the workshop leader. You will then be shown how to make cyanotype prints using cuttings of plants from along the canal and you will get to make your own prints that you can take home with you.
We will be outside for most of the session so we recommend bringing rain coats and sturdy shoes.
This is a session for family groups. Suitable for children 5+. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
What is Cyanotype:
Cyanotype is one of the first forms of photography it is a camera-less technique that involves laying an object on photosensitive paper, exposing it to sun light and then washing with water to create stunning white and Prussian blue images.
Time and Location:
10:30 to 12:00 on Monday the 16th February. The meeting location is the community garden which is between the Collective building and the canal, just off Old Oak Lane.
We recommend arriving by public transport as the closest car park at: 38 Disraeli Rd, London NW10 7AX.
No prior knowledge or experience is required and we will provide all the materials needed.
