Síofra is an Irish spoken word artist, hailing from the wilds of West Cork, currently based in Te Whanganui a Tara. As a bilingual poet, her work weaves between English and Gaeilge, exploring the relationship between language, culture and nature. The landscape of her childhood shapes her writing.
Since moving to Aotearoa, she speaks about home and the experience of immigration, politics, and the macro and micro elements of life.
She has performed in slams and shows across Ireland, the UK, and Aotearoa, running poetry workshops and doing sets at some of Irelands biggest festivals. Her work has been published in the monthly Pay Attention! Collective Zine, the Pride Poets anthology in 2023, Country life magazine and many more.
As usual, the show starts with an open mic - please show up early to sign up.
Price is, as usual, $3-$5 on the door - cash or bank transfers.
