Korimako Trio
Helene Pohl, violin; Rolf Gjelsten, cello; Michael Endres, piano
ST ANDREW’S ON THE TCE, NOV 6 AT 7.00PM
The Korimako Trio are celebrating their first anniversary with a wonderful programme to share with you that combines classical elegance with romantic depth, a programme which showcases the warmth and deeply communicative musicianship of these star performers.
The concert opens with Zemlinsky's Trio in D Minor, a late 19th century example of Viennese Romanticism, lyrical, dense and emotionally expressive. This is followed by Janacek’s Violin Sonata (for violin and piano) deeply dramatic with folk elements. A return to Romanticism with Chopin’s Introduction and Polonaise Brillante in C major, for cello and piano follows and the concert concludes with Haydn’s Piano trio in A major (Hob.XV), bright and witty, with plenty of classical charm. A beautifully varied journey through four distinct musical eras, balancing full trio textures with virtuoso duo highlights.
