What we call the Gothic aesthetic is almost three hundred years old, entering the scene in the eighteenth century and thriving into the present day.
Join our round-table philosophy meeting at Port Independent on the evening of October 29th to discuss the roots of the Gothic, the source of its enduring appeal and the close relationship between our greatest Gothic works and the world that created them.
We’ll also be asking what the Gothic can do for us today - how can we harness its infamous themes and devices to respond to our present social moment?
