DANCE WORKSHOP – BUTOH – WITH LIVE MUSICwith Marie-Thérèse Sitzia from Naples, Italy
In this workshop, we explore the body as living, changing matter. How do light, lines, distances, absences, gazes, music and connections affect us? How do they move us? The body becomes perceptible in its temporality and appearance. In states of waiting and uncertainty, we allow our natural, unadulterated body to emerge. This reveals a special presence.
The workshop will be accompanied by live music from R-Tron (electronic soundscapes) and Izabella Herzfeld (cello).
The workshop is open to adults of all experience levels (ages 16 and over) – actors, dancers, performers and those interested in movement who want to explore presence in the performative act.
Marie-Thérèse Sitzia is a choreographer, dancer and performer from Naples with a focus on physical presence and transformation. She is a founding member of the Lios dance company, with which she directed the international Butoh festival “Trasform’azioni” from 2001 to 2010. She studied with outstanding Butoh masters from Japan, including Akira Kasai. Through her artistic and pedagogical practice, she developed the method “Phenomenology of Presence,” which she teaches to performers, dancers and actors of all experience levels.
