Gamze Öztürk (Turkey, 1987) is a Turkish performance artist currently based in the Netherlands, mainly focusing on live art, installations, textiles and lens-based media (film, photography, etc.) She visualizes the silent languages of women in restricted social structures and patriarchal societies. She unravels the narratives the male gaze has imposed upon Anatolian women's histories. By investigating symbols and motifs in body politics, native rituals and narratives, she explores hidden poetic language in handicrafts such as rugs, carpets, and embroideries. Through long-duration performance and installation, she evokes these ancient rituals that have been preserved for hundreds of years. Hair is a cornerstone in her work, referencing the connection between women and ancestral memory. Hairs from herself, family and friends are used as material in her sculptures, installations and performances. More recently, she has been investigating the symbolism of Oya embroideries across Anatolia, which have functioned as a means of communication for women silenced in the public sphere.

Shardenia Felicia’s artistic practice moves between personal stories and social themes. Drawing from her Curaçao background, she explores how culture, identity and shared experiences shape us. Through textiles, performance, installations, painting and participatory projects, she creates work that opens up space for conversations about subjects such as racism, womanhood, motherhood, domestic violence and community building. Her artistic practice has its origins in a fantasy world—a paracosm—that she created as a child together with her twin sister. This world offered safety and a sense of stability during a difficult childhood. The character Doei, the mother and grandmother they were missing, continues to live on in her work as an alter ego who accompanies her. Where art once served as a form of escape, it later became a way of facing reality. Over the years, her practice has shifted from personal processing towards collective stories. Collaborations with artists, neighbourhood residents, people working in care, and young people in Curaçao have strengthened her belief that art can create connection, dialogue and possibilities for healing. Her work moves between the intimate and the political, exploring how imagination can contribute to a sense of belonging. For her, art is a form of resistance and care: a way of connecting personal experiences to broader social questions and creating space for new perspectives and encounters.

James Notin (Richard Kayode O. 1995) is a Yoruba-Nigerian interdisciplinary artist working from the Netherlands whose work explores human experiences in a microcosm, thus allowing my audience to freely judge, evaluate, or criticise the reality of our existence in the contemporary world, including our positioning and role in it. The output for sharing my works includes performance art, installation, photography and interactive literature. This choice is motivated by my interest in transforming the role of the audience from a passive observer to a physically active participant (where possible).
