Full‑day workshop to develop pamphlets, write new poems, share work and stay inspired together in a supportive, non‑judgemental space.
About this Event

NB: Please note this is a two‑part workshop, with the second workshop on Saturday 24 October from 10am to 4pm. By booking and attending the first session, you will be emailed the link to book session two.

Participants will need to bring pen and paper and a bottle of water. As this is an all‑day workshop, you are welcome to bring a light lunch, or there is a cafe available on site.

Award-winning poet, Jenny Mitchell, will facilitate two-part all day workshop poets who want to work on a pamphlet or collection before they submit it to publishers.

There will be a chance to workshop poems and to write news ones during the sessions.

How can we continue to be inspired when there are so many things calling on our attention?

What do we want to say in our work, and how can writing with others help us to say it?

Method: Participants will be offered time to share their work, and to read poems by established poets to inspire their writing.

This will all be done in a non-judgemental atmosphere.

The National Year of Reading 2026 is a UK-wide campaign designed to inspire people to make reading a regular part of their lives.

We all understand the benefits of reading and how it expands our minds, builds confidence and fuels creativity, yet fewer people are doing it. With growing distractions and limited time, reading for pleasure is declining across many groups.

This national campaign aims to change this by reconnecting reading with everyday culture. It is not about guilt or obligation, it is about showing that stories, ideas and imagination have a place in everyone’s daily life. Click here to find out more!
