About this Event
We are delighted to welcome bestselling author Patrick Gale to Waterstones Piccadilly to celebrate his brand new novel Love Lane. A profound and intensely atmospheric novel from the author of A Place Called Winter, Love Lane finds a Canadian wheat famer returning to his native England to reunite with the family he abandoned.
Patrick will be in conversation with art critic and author James Cahill.
Patrick Gale was born on the Isle of Wight. He spent his infancy at Wandsworth Pr*son, which his father governed, then grew up in Winchester before going to Oxford University. He now lives on a farm near Land's End. One of this country's best-loved novelists, his most recent works are A Perfectly Good Man, the Richard and Judy bestseller Notes From An Exhibition, the Costa-shortlisted A Place Called Winter and Mother's Boy. His original BBC television drama, Man In An Orange Shirt, was shown to great acclaim in 2017 as part of the BBC's Queer Britannia series, leading viewers around the world to discover his novels.
James Cahill has worked in the art world and academia for the past fifteen years. His debut novel, Tiepolo Blue, was shortlisted for the Authors' Club Best First Novel Award, and his writing has been published in Artforum, The Los Angeles Review of Books, The London Review of Books, The Spectator, The Times Literary Supplement, and The Daily Telegraph. James divides his time between London and Los Angeles.
Please note: Book and ticket option includes a copy of Love Lane (RRP. £20) available for collection on the night.
