Mental Health Recovery Partners – Central Island (MHRP CI) offers this free, recurring in-person caregiver support group for parents, partners, adult children, and friends navigating the complexities of mental health in Parksville and the Oceanside region.
Why Join Our In-Person Support Group?
Our face-to-face meetings provide a safe, non-judgemental space to connect with other local families who truly understand what you are going through.
- A Safe & Private Space: We meet in a confidential setting where you can speak openly without hesitation or fear of stigma.
- Lived Experience: Groups are led by skilled peer facilitators who have walked similar paths and understand the unique exhaustion of caregiving.
- An Accessible Environment: To ensure our space is accessible to everyone, including those with chronic health issues and chemical sensitivities, this meeting is strictly fragrance-free.
Who We Support
Whether you have been supporting your loved one for days or decades, we welcome families dealing with a wide range of mental health challenges, including:
- Mood Disorders: Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression, or Depressive Episodes.
- Psychotic Disorders: Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, or Psychosis.
- Trauma & Anxiety: PTSD, OCD, and severe Anxiety Disorders.
- Complex Conditions: Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Substance Use (concurrent disorders), or Anosognosia (lack of insight into their illness).
Meeting Details & Attendance
Taking the first step through the door is often the hardest part, but you will be met with warmth and understanding.
- Cost: Completely Free / Community-funded.
- Registration: Registration via Eventbrite helps us anticipate room setup, but you are always welcome.
- Participation: Share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. Listening is completely okay.
