About this Event
Join Assistant Curator Helen Woollison, for a free talk exploring how artists Kate Greenaway, Mary Hill and Helen Allingham used nostalgia as a commercial tool. Through idealised childhoods, rural life, and Hampstead scenes, these artists appealed to a longing for what was perceived as a simpler past, transforming memory, emotion and tradition into enduring artistic and market success. You’ll also get a chance to see the work of a selection of artists from the Hampstead School of Art, who have created work that relates to the exhibition.
Talk begins: 1.30pm
Please note: Although this is a free talk, booking is necessary as numbers are limited. We kindly ask that if you have booked and are unable to come, you get in touch with us at [email protected].
